Gordy Day, MD 

has served on the Medical Staff of Schleicher County Medical Center since 2001.  He also operates a private family practice clinic in San Angelo and provides clinical services at the Sterling City Family Clinic, Sterling, and the City of San Angelo Employee Clinic.  Dr. Day has worked as a family practice physician in West Texas for over 40 years, as a family practice physician at Shannon Hospital, the emergency room director and staff physician in the Emergency Department of St. John’s Hospital and the Chief of Staff at St. John’s Hospital, all in San Angelo.  He earned his Medical Degree and his Bachelor of Science Degree from Southwestern Texas State University, San Marcos, Texas, and completed a family practice internship and residency at the University of Alabama School of Primary Medical Care, Huntsville, Alabama. 

Monica Kessler, PA-C Monica Kessler, PA-C 

joined the staff of Schleicher County Medical Center and Schleicher County Family Clinic in 2010 after working for several years in a primary care/family practice setting, where she specialized in children’s health, emergency medicine, diabetic teaching and chronic disease management.  She is a native of Hawaii but has lived in Eldorado since 2006.  Born into a family where both parents were registered nurses, Monica became interested in medicine while volunteering for the Red Cross.  She received her master’s degree in physician assistant studies and a bachelor’s degree of science and healthcare science from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio.

Michael Ross, RN, PA-C Michael Ross, RN, PA-C 

has worked as a physicians assistant since graduating from the Primary Care Program, Stanford University School of Medicine, Stanford, California, in 2004. Prior to joining Schleicher County Medical Center and Schleicher Family Medicine, he worked in the emergency departments and inpatient units of hospitals in Eden, Quanah, Brady and Abilene, Texas. He also worked in primary care and specialty clinics in Tyler, Texas.

James “Heath” Mitchell, RN, FNP James “Heath” Mitchell, RN, FNP 

became a member of the medical staff of Schleicher County Medical Center and Schleicher County Family Clinic in 2019 following completion of his advanced training as a nurse practitioner at the University of Texas, Arlington.  He earned his Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from the University of Texas at Tyler in 2001 and brings more than 18 years of clinical experience to SCMC, working as a chief nursing officer, emergency nurse and intensive care nurse at several Texas hospitals.
